Srinagar April 11 (KNS): The Jammu and Kashmir Health and Medical Education Department has banned the private practice of Dr Hanief Dar, an Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery at Government Medical College (GMC), Srinagar.
Dr Dar has performed 1,807 surgeries exclusively in private hospitals under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) and AB PMJAY SEHAT schemes. Notably, none of these procedures were recorded at GMC Srinagar, where he is employed as a full-time faculty member.
The State Health Agency (SHA), in its evaluation report, highlighted this glaring anomaly, which was further corroborated by GMC Srinagar’s official work-done report.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelIt confirmed that Dr Dar’s contributions to government service were disproportionately overshadowed by his involvement in private practice.
The Health Department deemed this conduct a severe violation of the J and K Service Conduct Rules, which mandate that medical faculty prioritise public service and prohibit unauthorised private engagements.
The government has imposed an immediate and comprehensive ban on Dr Dar’s private practice across the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.(KNS)
