Govt Focuses on Scientific Waste Management Over Dumping Sites

Jammu, Mar 12 (KNS): The government has ruled out the construction of dumping sites in rural and far-flung areas of Jammu and Kashmir, stating that the focus is now on scientific solid waste disposal. The information was shared in the Assembly in response to a question raised by MLA G.A. Mir.


According to the official response, the government is prioritizing environmentally friendly waste management methods, including biomining of legacy waste, the construction of scientific waste management centers, door-to-door waste collection, bio-fencing around waste management sites, and the scientific clearing of existing dumping sites to convert them into bio-parks.

Regarding waste management in the Dooru constituency, the government stated that a Solid Waste Management Facility is already operational in Achabal town with a capacity of 4 TPD (tons per day).Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelWaste from the town is collected and processed at this facility.

The move is aimed at ensuring better sanitation and hygiene, particularly in areas such as Larkipora, Shahabad Bala, Sagam, Hiller Shahabad, Achabal, and other rural parts of Dooru, where residents have raised concerns about garbage being dumped near residential areas without proper management.

With these measures, the government intends to tackle the waste disposal challenge in a scientific manner while improving public health and environmental sustainability. (KNS)
