Bandipora March 29 (KNS) : The 85-kilometer Bandipora-Gurez road is expected to reopen for traffic today, nearly a month after its closure.
Officials have confirmed that the Border Roads Organization (BRO), which is responsible for maintaining the road, has nearly completed snow clearance operations and plans to allow traffic to resume today.
Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Gurez, Mukhtar Ahmad, told KNS that the road is "expected to open in the afternoon." He added, "If the road opens today, it will only allow one-way traffic from Bandipora to Gurez.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel"
The SDM emphasized that "anti-skid chains" will be necessary for vehicles, and traffic will only be permitted until 4 PM.
Avinash Kumar, Officer Commanding (OC) of BRO, noted that the reopening of the road is conditional. He stated that the operation is "still in progress," and the road's reopening "will depend entirely on the risk of avalanches and the amount of snow that may interfere." (KNS)
