Hassle free Traffic arrangements for Jhiri Mela 2025- a priority: DIG Traffic

Jammu, 1 Nov (KNS) : Jhiri Mela, an annual religious mela is being held in Jhiri village in Marh Block of Jammu District for last so many years.

The mela attracts lakhs of devotees from different states of North India besides the local ones.

Dr. Mohd Haseeb Mughal, IPS, Deputy Inspector General of Police, Traffic Range Jammu, today reviewed the traffic arrangements put in place for the smooth conduct of the annual Jhiri Mela, scheduled to be held from 4th November to 13th November 2025.

A detailed meeting was convened at the PWD Guest House, Jhiri, which was attended by SSP Traffic City Jammu, SDM Marh, Addl. SP Traffic City Jammu, SP Rural Jammu, SDPO Kanachak, SDPO Domana, DySP Traffic City Rural and other field officers from the Police and Traffic Departments.

During the meeting, the DIG Traffic Range Jammu took a comprehensive review of the traffic management plan, parking arrangements, and diversion routes formulated to facilitate devotees arriving from different parts of Jammu and adjoining areas.

He directed the officers to ensure seamless traffic flow, adequate parking spaces, and clearly marked entry and exit points to prevent congestion during peak hours.

Dr. Mohd Haseeb Mughal , IPS emphasized maintaining close coordination among all stakeholder departments, particularly between the Police, Traffic and Civil administration for effective regulation and management during the festive period. He further instructed that special focus be laid on anti-sabotage measures, CCTV surveillance, and night patrolling to ensure the safety and security of devotees.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

The DIG also directed field officers to remain vigilant and responsive, extending all possible assistance to the public visiting the Mela. Later, he along with accompanying officers, visited the Mela site and adjoining areas to assess on-ground preparations and issued necessary directions for further improvements wherever required.

While speaking to media representatives, Dr. Mohd Haseeb Mughal, IPS, stated that the Jhiri Mela 2025 is expected to witness a large influx of devotees. To ensure smooth traffic movement, Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs) will be allowed to ply on the Ring Road from Raya Morh (near Zamindara Dhaba) up to Mishriwala Cut with uninterrupted flow.

Heavy Motor Vehicles (HMVs) will proceed up to Dayaran, take a turn, and enter at Sua No. 1 to avoid congestion and facilitate the devotees in performing rituals without inconvenience.

The DIG Traffic Range Jammu reiterated the department’s commitment to ensuring a safe and hassle-free experience for all devotees attending the Jhiri Mela. He appealed to the public to cooperate with the Traffic Police by following the advisories and using designated routes and parking areas. The officers present assured that all necessary arrangements would be in place well before the commencement of the Mela, reflecting the collective resolve of the administration to uphold the sanctity and spirit of this cultural and religious gathering.(kNS)
