Srinagar, Aug 30 (KNS): Terming the sacred life and teachings of Hazrat Sultan-ul-Arifeen Sheikh Hamza Makhoom Kashmiri (RA) as a guiding light for the Muslims of Kashmir in every era, Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir Dr Moulvi Muhammad Umar Farooq on Friday said the great services of this “Waliy-e-Kaamil” to Islam and societal reform are unforgettable.
He said the only way to truly honour the religious, reformative, spiritual and social contributions of Hazrat Makhdoom Sahab (RA) is by keeping his life, which was centred around monotheism, the Qur’an and Sunnah, in front of us and by playing our role in reforming society accordingly.
Addressing a large gathering at the historic central Jama Masjid Srinagar before the Friday prayers, Mirwaiz praised this great religious and spiritual leader of Kashmir, calling him the true benefactor of Kashmiris.

“By sincerely following the teachings of the saints and our pious predecessors, which essentially explain and elaborate on the teachings of the Quran and Hadith, we can achieve success in both this world and the hereafter,” he said.
Mirwaiz further mentioned that our pious predecessors and Mirwaizeen regularly visited the revered shrine of Hazrat Sheikh Hamzah Makhdoom Kashmiri (RA) with devotion and love, and they continued to draw spiritual benefit from him.
He said that our current society is plagued by serious and destructive evils and impurities. Therefore, it is essential that we, keeping in mind the teachings and reformative efforts of these religious personalities, particularly Hazrat Sheikh Hamzah Makhdoom (RA), intensify our efforts at both individual and collective levels to eliminate all kinds of evils from our society.
On this occasion, Mirwaiz led a collective prayer for the elevation of the ranks of Hazrat Hamzah Makhdoom Kashmiri (RA) in Jannah. (KNS)
