Jammu, Mar 11 (KNS): The Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly on Tuesday erupted in heated arguments over the regularization of daily wagers, with opposition parties demanding immediate action and criticizing the use of force against protesting workers.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) accused the ruling National Conference (NC) of neglecting the concerns of daily wagers over the years. BJP leaders called for the immediate regularization of the workers and condemned the police's use of force during the protests.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah addressed the Assembly, stating, "The police should not have used force on them on Monday when they were fighting for their rights.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel" He emphasized that the issue was not just financial, but humanitarian. "Police are not under our control. Instead of shouting here, you should take this up with Raj Bhawan," the CM told BJP legislators, according to the news agency KINS.
NC leaders responded by accusing the BJP of doing little for daily wagers during its time in power. The debate continued for a while, with legislators exchanging sharp remarks. The issue of daily wagers remains a significant challenge for the government, with thousands of workers seeking job security and better working conditions. (KNS)
