Jammu, Jul 22 (KNS): With heavy rains forecast over the next 72 hours, district authorities across Jammu division have issued safety advisories, shutting schools in Rajouri and Reasi and warning residents to remain alert.
In Rajouri, continuous downpour has swollen the Dharhali and Saktoh rivers, flooding several low-lying areas. District Magistrate Rajouri announced on X, “In view of adverse weather conditions, all Government and Private Schools in Rajouri District will remain closed today.”
Reasi has also ordered a one-day closure of all schools on July 22 as a precaution, according to a directive issued by the Chief Education Officer.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner Samba has issued a public advisory urging people to avoid landslide-prone roads and to strictly stay away from overflowing nallahs and rivulets. School authorities have been directed to suspend classes in unsafe buildings and for students who need to cross streams to reach schools.
Residents have been advised to stay indoors unless necessary and report emergencies to the District Control Room at 01923-241004.
Authorities have urged the public to follow advisories to prevent accidents during the ongoing rains.(KNS)
