Srinagar, April 28 (KNS): If a son has done anything wrong, his father, family, or even his neighbour should not be punished, said M.Y. Tarigami, CPI(M) leader and MLA from Kulgam, while condemning the gruesome Pahalgam terror attack.
In a statement to KNS, the CPI(M) leader said that, as he had also recorded during the special Assembly session in Jammu, there is a Supreme Court ruling on demolitions which upholds the right to shelter for every citizen.
“If a son is guilty, his father or any other family member cannot be considered punishable,” he said. “Today, the government is carrying out demolitions of alleged terrorist properties, as if suddenly remembering the presence of terrorists. The Centre has been in control of law and order in J&K since 2014; they must answer for the current security scenario.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel”
He said the gruesome terror attack at Pahalgam is highly condemnable and that there is no place for such attacks in a civilised society. He added that the victims must get justice.
He further said that in these demolition drives, even the homes of neighbours are getting damaged. “What is their fault? Is this is the way to fight terrorism?... it will only alienate innocent people.”
“Those guilty of crimes must be brought to justice, but innocent people should not be harmed,” the CPI(M) leader added. “We must all resolve to ensure that every citizen of J&K is protected and that the rule of law is upheld — that is the real way to fight terrorism.”(KNS)
