Illicit timber, two horses seized in Rafiabad Forest Range

Srinagar March 18 (KNS): forest department on Monday late-night seized two horses and also seized illicit timber in the Rafiabad forest range.

Officials in the forest department said that they had received complaint and subsequently Naka was established near Renan-Tangwar during that they intercepted smugglers carrying illicit timber.

that some smugglers of upper belt of Rafiabad are chopping green trees from nearby forests and are shifting it to urban areas of Baramulla against huge prices.

However the smugglers managed to escape taking advantage of dark but the officials seized at least two horses full of illicit timber.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelThey said they seized approximately 12 cfts of illicit timber aling with fpf k10 and shifted it to a nearby forest office along with two horses.

The operation was conducted by RO Rafiabad alongwith his team jointly with BO FCR Langate and BO HQ Langate after receiving input about illicit timber movement, forest official Najmul Saqib said.

The anti-smuggling operations will continue and forest damage doers will not be spared, he added.(KNS)
