IMD Forecasts Light to Moderate Rain and Snow in J&K from Feb 25-28, With Isolated Heavy Snowfall

Srinagar, Feb 21 (KNS): The India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Srinagar has issued a forecast for light to moderate rain and snow at most locations in Jammu and Kashmir between February 25 and 28, with isolated heavy snowfall expected in both the Kashmir and Jammu divisions.


The region has already experienced a sharp decline in temperatures over the past 24 hours, with day temperatures plummeting by 6-14°C in many areas. In Kashmir Division, temperatures fell by 7-14°C, with Muzaffarabad at 11.0°C, Srinagar at 10.7°C, Pahalgam at 4.8°C, Kupwara at 4.7°C, and Gulmarg recording the coldest at 1.0°C.

In Jammu Division, Kathua saw the highest temperature at 15.8°C, followed by Mirpur at 15.5°C and Jammu at 14.8°C. Other notable temperatures were Banihal at 5.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel2°C and Bhaderwah at 6.3°C.

Night temperatures across Jammu and Kashmir dropped by 0-5°C in some areas. The lowest minimum temperatures in Jammu Division were recorded in Bhaderwah and Banihal at -2.4°C, followed by Batote at -0.5°C. In Kashmir, night temperatures fell by 0-10°C, with Gulmarg at -5.6°C, Pahalgam at -2.4°C, and Kukernag at -1.2°C.

Over the last 24 hours, widespread precipitation has been observed across the region, adding to the cold wave currently gripping Jammu and Kashmir.

The IMD has warned of a fresh spell of wet weather from February 25 to 28, advising residents to stay updated with official weather warnings as the light to moderate snow and rain may disrupt daily activities. (KNS)
