Srinagar, June 15 (KNS): A group of Indian medical students studying in Tehran, Iran, have issued an urgent appeal for help, expressing deep concern over their safety as tensions between Israel and Iran continue to escalate.
The students, many of whom are from Jammu and Kashmir, say they are living under constant fear as missile interceptions and explosions are frequently heard at night in the Iranian capital. While the days remain relatively calm, nights are marked by loud sounds of airstrikes or missile defense systems in action.
In a written statement addressed to Indian authorities, a copy of which lies with Kashmir News Service (KNS), the students said, “We are currently living in the highs and the lows of silence and violence. Almost every night, the sky above Tehran echoes with the sounds of missile interceptions and, at times, direct strikes.”
According to the students, although Iran’s air defense systems have intercepted many of the attacks, the situation remains unpredictable. “The margin between safety and catastrophe feels painfully thin. If we are lucky, we survive another night,” they said.

They have appealed to the Government of India, respective state administrations, and international student welfare organizations to take immediate action. “We appeal to the concerned authorities to acknowledge our situation and facilitate our safety, whether through diplomatic reassurance, evacuation protocols, or direct contact with us,” they said.
They also requested the Indian Embassy in Tehran to stay in touch and monitor their safety. “This is not just a request for help it is a plea for protection. We are afraid. We are trying to survive, but we cannot do it alone,” the students added.
The Ministry of External Affairs has not issued a formal statement on the situation so far, though reports suggest that helpline numbers have been activated for Indian nationals in Iran.
The students hope that the Indian government will act swiftly to ensure their well-being in the midst of the ongoing regional conflict. (KNS)
