Jammu, Apr 14 (KNS): The Congress high command is reportedly preparing to initiate strict disciplinary action against over a dozen party members from Jammu and Kashmir, including a few self-styled district presidents, for indulging in activities that go against the party's interests.
Sources within the party revealed that following a detailed complaint from senior J&K leaders, the central leadership has decided to send a clear message by acting firmly against those who have been openly challenging the authority of J&K Congress president Tariq Hamid Karra and AICC general secretary Ghulam Ahmed Mir.
“A list of all the individuals involved in anti-party behavior has already been compiled and submitted to the high command for necessary action,” a party insider said. The source further added that even a senior leader suspected of backing these rebel voices is now under close watch.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
This development comes days after a group of Congress workers from Jammu and Kashmir staged a protest at the AICC headquarters in New Delhi, raising slogans against Karra and Mir. The protesters accused the duo of weakening the party in the region and demanded their removal from key positions.
Reacting to the incident, senior Congress leaders from J&K, in a joint statement on April 7, condemned the open display of indiscipline, calling it harmful to both the party’s image and its mission in the sensitive region. They emphasized the need for swift and tough action to prevent such behavior from spreading and to safeguard the party’s unity and relevance in Jammu and Kashmir. (KNS)
