Jammu Kashmir Police Targets Drug Trade, Attaches Properties, Makes Arrests

 Srinagar, Dec 04 (KNS): In a major action against drug peddlers and smugglers, Srinagar Police has attached properties worth over Rs 3 crores under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

Police have attached two properties linked to notorious drug peddlers. The first, a three-story residential house worth Rs 65 lakh, belongs to Abdul Ahad Bhat of Banpora Batamaloo, who was involved in selling narcotics to youth. The second property, a three-story residential house valued at Rs 2.5 crores, belongs to Manzoor Ahmad Bhat of Natipora, whose son, Jan Manzoor Bhat, is also a drug peddler.

In addition, four drug peddlers have been arrested in separate incidents.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelRakib Ahmad Dar was arrested after police seized 11 grams of a Brown Sugar-like substance from his vehicle in Srinagar. Mohammad Irfan Sheikh was arrested in Noorbagh after 2.51 grams of heroin were found in his possession. Akshay Kumar was arrested in Kulgam after police recovered 9.6 kg of poppy straw from his bag.

Police have registered cases in these incidents under various sections of the NDPS Act and are continuing their investigations. The public has been urged to cooperate with law enforcement in combating the drug menace in the region.(KNS).
