J&K Bank organizes awareness camp on High-Density Plantation Scheme at Govt. Degree College Pulwama

Srinagar, Feb 04 (KNS): J&K Bank today held a day-long awareness camp on the High Density Apple Plantation (HDP) scheme at Govt. Degree College Pulwama bringing together various stakeholders including farmers and horticulture experts to promote advanced agricultural practices in the region. 

Additional DC (Pulwama) S M Ashraf presided over the camp in the presence of Bank’s GM & Divisional Head (Kashmir) Shabir Ahmad, Zonal Head (Pulwama) Shaista Khan, DGM Rakesh Magotra, LDM Showkat Ahmad Masoodi, Cluster Heads of pulwama and shopian , District Horticulture Officer Gousia, and Principal of Govt. Degree College (Pulwama) Dr Harris. 

The camp witnessed enthusiastic engagement from branch heads of Pulwama and Shopian districts, local growers and representatives from private enterprises, reflecting a collaborative effort to drive sustainable agricultural growth. 

Appreciating the Bank’s proactive approach at the camp, ADC Pulwama said, “High Density farming is going on in a mission mode in our district and we are proud to be Number One district in the valley. J&K Bank’s initiative to promote high-density plantation reflects its deep commitment to the welfare of farming community and is poised to double your income.”

Urging the growers to shun conventional farming and adopt progressive methods through High-Density farming, Divisional Head (Kashmir) Shabir Ahmad stated, “This initiative underscores our mission to drive rural prosperity. Highlighting the scheme’s farmer-friendly features, DGM Rakesh Magotra remarked, “Our High-Density Plantation Scheme is designed to help farmers establish modern orchards with high-yielding varieties and offers collateral-free loans of up to ?5 lakh, ensuring easy access to credit for small and marginal farmers. Additionally, we provide highly competitive interest rates to make financing affordable for all growers.” 

Addressing the gathered farmers, Zonal Head (Pulwama) Shaista Khan emphasized the transformative impact of the Bank’s High-Density Plantation Scheme for progressive farmers. She urged all growers to visit their nearest J&K Bank branch and avail the benefits under the scheme to enhance their agricultural income. 

During the event, several progressive farmers identified by various branches of Pulwama Zone were handed on-the-spot sanction letters for High-Density Plantation loans, reinforcing the Bank’s commitment to timely financial assistance for agricultural development.

Notably, the HDP scheme, aimed at increasing crop yield and profitability through modern plantation techniques, was discussed in detail. Experts highlighted its potential to optimize land use, reduce water consumption and enhance fruit quality. The event concluded with interactive sessions where growers clarified doubts regarding subsidies, loans, and implementation strategies.

Meanwhile, the Bank reiterated its role in providing tailored financial solutions to support farmers adopting these practices.(KNS)
