Srinagar, Apr 6 (KNS): Today, a review meeting was held at the Directorate of Sericulture Development Department in Tulsi Bagh, Srinagar, chaired by the Director of Sericulture J&K, Ajaz Ahmad Bhat. The meeting was attended by officers and in-charges of Silkworm Seed Stations across the department.
The meeting delved into critical aspects aimed at enhancing the sericulture sector’s performance, focusing on achieving the physical and financial targets outlined for the fiscal year 2023-24. Each project and activity underwent meticulous scrutiny to ascertain progress and ensure optimal outcomes.
Officers showcased high-definition, geo-tagged photographs of established operational units, underscoring the importance of major achievements within each project. This visual documentation served as a testament to progress and inspiration for future endeavors.
Discussions centered on the formulation of the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP) for ongoing initiatives and prospective proposals for the upcoming fiscal year 2024-25. Ajaz Ahmad Bhat, Director of Sericulture J&K, articulated an ambitious vision for expansion within the sericulture domain, urging officers to redouble efforts towards augmenting cocoon production. Emphasizing the pivotal role of silkworm rearers and farmers, he advocated for concerted measures to bolster their numbers across districts, fostering inclusivity and equitable growth.
Furthermore, the Director underscored the importance of elevating seed production to meet escalating demands, tasking the department with crafting robust action plans to achieve this pivotal objective. Such initiatives are poised to fortify the sericulture sector and catalyze socio-economic progress, empowering communities and fostering resilience.
Ajaz Ahmad Bhat also highlighted the department’s commitment to generating employment opportunities for the youth in the region. He stated, “Youth empowerment is a key aspect of our vision.
