Extends Baisakhi Greetings, Highlights Police Commitment to Peace

Srinagar, Apr 13 (KNS): Extending warm greetings on the occasion of Baisakhi, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Zone, Vidhi Kumar Birdi on Sunday said that Jammu and Kashmir continues to stand as a symbol of harmony, where people of all faiths live together with peace and mutual respect.

Speaking to media after paying obeisance at Gurdwara Chhati Patshahi in Srinagar, Birdi said, "Baisakhi is a festival not only for the Sikh community but for everyone, as it reflects the spirit of happiness, success, and peace for all."

He said the land of Jammu and Kashmir has always showcased an assimilative culture where communities stand together in unity, and festivals like Baisakhi strengthen this brotherhood further. Birdi further underlined the Jammu and Kashmir Police's commitment to ensuring a secure and peaceful environment for all citizens, especially during religious events. "Our personnel remain present and alert so that every function and celebration is held without any worry," he said.

On the issue of drug trafficking and narco-terrorism, Birdi reaffirmed that the police are operating in “mission mode” to tackle the challenge. He said strict legal action, including arrests and seizure of property, is being taken against those involved, ensuring the safety of youth and the wider community.

"Police are working hard to make sure that the people of Jammu and Kashmir live their lives in peace, away from the threats of drugs or terrorism," he added. (KNS)
