Javid Dar visits Kupwara, chairs mega Kissan Mela at Agriculture Complex, Kupwara

Kupwara, Nov 29 (KNS): Minister for Agriculture and Rural Development Department, Javid Ahmad Dar, on saturday visited the frontier district Kupwara and presided over a mega Kissan Mela organized at the Agriculture Complex, Kupwara.

Advisor to Chief Minister, Nasir Aslam Wani; MLA Trehgam, Mir Saifullah; MLA Lolab, Qaiser Jamshaid Lone; Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Shrikant Balasaheb Suse,Director Agriculture, Sartaj Ahmad Shah, Director, Horticulture, Planning and Marketing, Ghulam Jeelani Zargar and ADDC Kupwara, Mufti Fareed- u- Din were present on the occasion. Besides, the event witnessed a large turnout of farmers, agri-entrepreneurs, officers and local stakeholders from across the district.

On arrival, the Minister inspected different stalls installed by various departments including Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry, Sericulture, Fisheries, Sheep Husbandry and other FPOs. He reviewed the ongoing agricultural initiatives, interacted with farmers, and emphasised the government’s commitment towards transforming the agriculture sector through technology-driven and farmer-centric policies. He handed over various entitlements including sanction letters, vehicle keys and cheques to the beneficiaries.

Speaking on the occasion, Javid Dar highlighted the unique agricultural potential of Kupwara, praising its hardworking farming community.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelHe reiterated the government’s resolve to strengthen farm-based livelihoods, increase productivity and enhance market access. He emphasized the need for adopting scientific agricultural practices by the farmers for improving their income and standard of living.

The Minister asked the Director Agriculture to hold more Kissan Melas in the district to disseminate awareness about agriculture schemes to the masses.

Advisor to CM, Nasir Aslam Wani, also spoke and urged upon the department to cover maximum population under the schemes so that the people of this frontier district will be benefitted.

MLA Trehgam and MLA Lolab also spoke and highlighted the issues and challenges faced by the district for Agriculture and production activities.

Earlier, the Chief Agriculture Officer Kupwara highlighted the Agriculture scenario of the district.

The Mega Kissan Mela featured multiple exhibition stalls showcasing advanced machinery, high-yielding seed varieties, organic and soil health products, integrated farming models and information on centrally sponsored schemes. Experts from the Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry, Sericulture and allied departments offered on-the-spot technical guidance to farmers.(KNS)
