Expresses deep concern after Nowgam Police Station blast; urges Centre and LG Administration to act swiftly
Srinagar, Nov 18 (KNS) : The General Secretary of Jammu & Kashmir Peoples Conference and President of the All J&K Shia Association today issued a strong and emotional statement on X regarding the tragic blast at Nowgam Police Station, calling it a powerful reminder of the unimaginable risks faced by Jammu & Kashmir Police personnel every single day.
He wrote that the loss of nine precious lives—officers and technical staff who were simply carrying out their duty while examining seized explosives has once again highlighted the dangerous environment in which the JKP operates. He said their courage is unquestionable, but the system they serve must now rise to the level of their sacrifice.
He added that it is shocking and deeply unfair that a JKP constable receives a risk allowance of merely ?75–?100 per month, and even a DSP receives only around ?250, with other ranks also receiving similarly inadequate amounts.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelThese are officers who handle explosives, respond to terror threats, lead anti-narcotics drives, conduct night operations, and remain on the frontlines during every crisis.
“When the dangers are real, constant, and life-threatening, such allowances are not just inadequate they are unjust,” he stated. He stressed that the brave men and women of the Jammu & Kashmir Police deserve dignity, recognition, and compensation that truly reflects the risks they shoulder for the safety of the people.
He earnestly appealed to the Home Minister Amit Shah and the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to urgently revise the risk allowance structure for the JKP. He emphasized that the force has consistently proven its commitment and bravery, and it is now the collective responsibility of the government and society to ensure they receive the fair treatment, respect, and support they rightfully deserve.(KNS)
