Baramulla, Dec 29 (KNS): The Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Conference (JKPC) Constituency Incharge of Uri, Dr Bashir Chalkoo on Friday urged the government to prioritize the resolution of the lack of playground facilities in Uri.
In a presser at his residence in URI Dr. Chalkoo said that he had visited various villages in Uri, including Kalghai, Slamabad Sultandaki, Kamalkote, Dachana Slamabad. Trikanjan, Pehlipora, Bimyar in recent days. where he found children in absence of a playground to playing on roads and villagers sought demand of Playground in their areas.
"During interaction with childrens at several places it has come to my notice that in absence of a playground facility these childrens are playing on the roads which affects traffic movement on the busy road," Chalkoo said.
He also said that the people had raised the issue with the concerned department multiple times, but had not received any benefits.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelWithout playgrounds, they had no choice but to play on the roads.
Dr. Chalkoo accused the senior politicians of ignoring Uri and making fun of its people. He said that there was a hub of talent among the children of Uri, and he was confident that they had the potential to represent the country, but this was being lost due to the lack of playground facilities.
"In 1980, a mini stadium had been established in Uri, but for the past 40 years, no one had shown any importance in promoting sports activities in the area,".
He appealed to the Department of Youth Service and Sports to focus on Uri, as there were players who wanted to take part in sports activities, but were unable to due to the absence of playgrounds.(KNS)
