Srinagar, July 3, (KNS): In the run-up to the 26th Kargil Vijay Diwas, a delegation of military veterans and Veer Naris (war widows) visited the Chinar Corps headquarters in Srinagar to honour the courage and sacrifices of Indian soldiers during the 1999 Kargil War.
The visit was part of a special initiative by the Akhil Bhartiya Poorva Sainik Seva Parishad. The team was led by Rear Admiral Rajvir Singh (Retd), former Principal of the Indian Naval Academy. On July 2, they arrived at the Badami Bagh Cantonment and paid floral tributes at the Chinar War Memorial.
They also toured the "Ibadat-e-Shahadat" museum and explored displays showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Jammu and Kashmir, along with the Indian Army's role in safeguarding peace in the Valley.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
During their visit, the delegation met the Chinar Corps Commander and held discussions on how ex-servicemen can contribute to nation-building in collaboration with the local community. The Corps Commander praised the group for their enthusiasm and spirit, saying it reflects the true meaning of the military motto "Naam, Namak aur Nishaan" — Name, Salt, and Flag — and added, "Once a soldier, always a soldier."
The visit marks the beginning of a series of solemn and patriotic events to be held in Srinagar, Drass, and Kargil, commemorating 26 years of India's victory in the Kargil War.(KNS)
