Yellow Alert Issued in Kashmir, Essential Services Remain Operational

Srinagar, Feb 27 (KNS): Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, V K Bidhuri, on Thursday highlighted the importance of preserving Kashmir’s heritage, highlighting that younger generations, immersed in social media, may not have experienced the valley's ’s traditional lifestyle. 


Speaking at a symbolic ceremony organized as part of the Soan Meeras initiative, he noted that such events provide an opportunity to reconnect with the past.  

Despite inclement weather, Bidhuri acknowledged the enthusiasm of the people and extended gratitude to key stakeholders, including the Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar Municipal Corporation, Smart City officials, and the Indira Gandhi Center for Arts, for supporting the event. He mentioned that the festival, initially scheduled for February 28, has now been postponed to March 1 due to rain.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel  

Regarding the ongoing power crisis, Bidhuri admitted that unscheduled power cuts have been a concern but assured that the overall power supply remains stable. He attributed the situation to coordinated efforts and expressed confidence that disruptions would be minimal.  

On the weather situation, he confirmed that a Yellow Alert had been issued due to persistent rainfall but assured that major services, including air and rail connectivity, were functioning normally. While some border passes remain closed, he stated that the National Highway is open.  

Speaking about school operations, Bidhuri noted a significant improvement since their reopening and expressed hope for continued progress in the education sector.(KNS)
