Srinagar, July 20 (KNS): Residents of Malik Sahib Gojwara in Ward No. 8 of Khanyar, Srinagar, say they are facing severe hardships due to the deteriorated condition of roads and drainage in the area.
According to locals, the damaged and waterlogged lanes have made daily life increasingly difficult, especially for school-going children, elderly people, women, and patients. They say the situation worsens during rains, when stagnant water accumulates and turns the streets into pond-like zones, making pedestrian movement nearly impossible.
Residents further said the area includes a 'Sane Kids School and a Marriage Hall, both attracting daily footfall, and that the poor state of infrastructure causes serious inconvenience to visitors and locals alike.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
They expressed frustration over repeated delays in the much-needed repair work. “We’ve been hearing promises for years. Though funds have been released, no tender has been floated, and no work has started,” said a group of residents.
According to them, budget allocations for road and drain repairs have already been sanctioned, but unnecessary delays in the tendering process have pushed the locality into deeper distress.
The residents urged concerned authorities, including local MLA Ali Muhammad Sagar and municipal officials, to take immediate steps to begin the pending repair and construction work in Malik Sahib Gojwara without further delay. (KNS)
