Srinagar, Aug 30(KNS): KNS Bureau Chief Mohammad Lateef, who also serves as chief editor of Kashmir Tehalka, was honoured for his contributions to journalism and social service at an event held at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC) here.
The award was presented to Lateef by Member of Parliament Ghulam Ali Khatana in the presence of SSP Nighat Aman during a two-day programme organised by HIFAA in collaboration with Florence Hospital and ACI Asian Cancer Institute.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by leading oncologists from across the country, doctors, public representatives and other distinguished guests.
The programme was inaugurated by a former chief minister of Uttar Pradesh in the presence of MLA M Y Tarigami, MLA Dr Shafi Wani, MLA Farooq Ahmad Shah and Dr Henna Shafi.
Several doctors and individuals were felicitated during the event for their contributions to society.
The organisers recognised Lateef for his work in journalism and his involvement in various social initiatives. He has also been associated with blood donation camps, seminars and other public-oriented programmes.

Lateef also organises the annual Infotel Awards Ceremony, which recognises individuals for their contributions to society.
A key announcement at the event was that cancer patients in Kashmir will now have access to specialised treatment and surgical services at the ACI Asian Cancer Institute at Florence Hospital in Srinagar, with leading oncologists providing advanced cancer care.
The participants appreciated the efforts of Dr Imran Muzaffar, MD, Florence Hospital, for organising the programme and bringing medical professionals, journalists, social workers and other contributors to society together on a common platform.
The organisers said the awards were intended to recognise individuals making significant contributions to society and encourage them to continue their work in public service.
