Kohli's Unbeaten 100 and Jaiswal's Masterclass Put India in Command

 Perth, Nov 24 (KNS): Virat Kohli returned to his best form with a commanding century, following a stellar knock from Yashasvi Jaiswal, as India declared their second innings at 487 for six on Day 3 of the opening Test, setting Australia a daunting target of 534 runs for victory.

Kohli, who remained unbeaten on 100 off 143 balls, hit eight fours and two sixes. He shared an 89-run partnership for the sixth wicket with Washington Sundar (29), and an unbroken stand of 77 off 54 balls with Nitesh Reddy (38*), frustrating the Australian bowlers and extending India’s lead. This came after Jaiswal’s impressive 161 at the top of the order.

Jaiswal, who completed his fourth Test century in the morning session, played a brilliant 297-ball innings, including 15 boundaries and three sixes, before being dismissed by Mitchell Marsh off Steven Smith.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelIndia lost only one wicket in the third session, with Sundar the only casualty after lunch as Australia picked up four wickets in that period. However, Kohli’s unbeaten knock ensured India remained in firm control.

In India’s second innings, Jaiswal and KL Rahul (77) set a new record for the highest opening partnership by an Indian pair in Australia, adding 201 runs for the first wicket.

Earlier, India had scored just 150 in their first innings but bounced back strongly, dismissing Australia for just 104 in their first innings.
