LG Manoj Sinha inaugurates Self Help Groups' stalls at MahaKhumb 2025

Srinagar January 23 (KNS) On January 23, 2025, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha of Jammu and Kashmir formally inaugurated the Self-Help Groups' stalls at Prayagraj MahaKumbh 2025. These stalls were established by Self-Help Groups under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana National Urban Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NULM). The inauguration was attended by other esteemed dignitaries and underscores the Housing and Urban Development Department, Jammu and Kashmir's (H&UDD) endeavours to provide a comprehensive platform and sustainable support to Self-Help Groups, empowering them to showcase innovative products and services.

*Project Officer, District Urban Development Agency (DUDA) Udhampur/Reasi, Jaffar Abass Batt,* warmly welcomed the Hon'ble Lieutenant Governor with a traditional garland of flowers. Batt briefed the LG about the Self Help Groups stalls installed by the Urban Development Agencies (UDAs) of the Housing and Urban Development Department at the MahaKumbh 2025 event. These stalls provide a valuable platform for SHGs to showcase and sell products, promoting economic empowerment and self-sufficiency among group members.

Notably, this initiative marks the department's second significant endeavor, following a similar successful event at Akansha Haat 2024 in Lucknow. Self Help Groups expressed gratitude to the Housing and Urban Development Department, Jammu and Kashmir, for providing a valuable opportunity to showcase products at MahaKumbh 2025, facilitating economic empowerment and growth.Certificates were distributed to participating SHG members.

Earlier, Hon'ble Chief Secretary Atul Dullo IAS, Jammu and Kashmir, and Dr. Rashmi Singh, IAS, President Akansha Samiti Uttar Pradesh, Commissioner Secretary for Hospitality and Protocol, Government of Jammu and Kashmir, and Principal Resident Commissioner, inspected stalls set up by Self Help Groups (SHGs) at Prayagraj MahaKumbh 2025, appreciating the SHGs stalls and acknowledging the efforts of HUDD, Jammu and Kashmir.

This initiative aligns with the department's efforts to promote urban livelihoods and women's economic empowerment through initiatives like *Akansha Haat 2024 and MahaKumbh 2025,* providing a platform for SHGs to showcase products, fostering economic growth, self-sustainability, and generating a steady income source.(KNS)
