Lolab Winter Festival Concludes with Grand Success at Kariwan Devar

Kupwara, Jan 11 (KNS): The Lolab Winter Festival, held at  Kariwan in Devar Lolab, concluded successfully today, leaving an indelible mark on both locals and visitors. Over the weekend, thousands gathered to witness the vibrant celebration of the region’s rich cultural heritage and stunning winter beauty.  

The event, aimed at promoting tourism and showcasing the Lolab’s diverse traditions, featured a host of activities that captured the essence of Lolab Valley. Attendees enjoyed traditional music performances, a thrilling snow volleyball championship, skiing contests, folk music, and dance performances. 

Local artisans displayed their handicrafts, adding a touch of craftsmanship to the event. Visitors were also able to indulge in local culinary delights while exploring nature walks through the picturesque surroundings.  

Notable dignitaries including Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Ayushi Sudan; DDC Chairman Kupwara, Irfan Sultan Pandipuri; SSP Kupwara, Ghulam Jeelani, Brigadier Kunal Sharma, SM Commander 8 Sector RR

A highlight of the festival was the "Know Your Army Program" organized by the Indian Army, where they showcased the latest military equipment and offered information on recruitment and career opportunities. Young visitors showed great interest, with many taking the opportunity to register for the NDA Entrance Exam Preparatory classes. 

The Army also created a Citizen Soldier selfie point, which became a popular attraction among the locals.  

Speaking to the media, DC Kupwara Ayushi Sudan emphasized the festival’s role in boosting the tourism potential of Lolab Valley. She thanked all the stakeholders, including the Army, Police, local representatives, and the general public, for their collective efforts in making the event a grand success.  

The festival was a celebration of community, culture, and unity, and it is expected to further enhance Lolab Valley's standing as a prominent tourist destination in the district. (KNS)
