Srinagar, July 11(KNS): Manzoor Wangnoo, Chairman of the Nigeen Tourist Traders Association (NTTA), lauded the Handicrafts Dept for promoting and preserving Kashmir's handicrafts.
The statement issued to KNS reads: Wangnoo attended the meeting chaired by Mehmood Ahmad Shah, Director of Handloom and Handicrafts where crucial discussion on the importance of protecting these cherished crafts was held.
In the meeting, Mehmood Shah and his team were commended for their significant achievements, including earning the World Craft City status and initiating the GI Tag. These milestones are seen as vital steps in reviving Kashmir's handicrafts and providing a substantial boost to local artisans.

"We must mandate proper product labeling and conduct rigorous checks to ensure the integrity of our crafts," he added.
Wangnoo also praised the Directorate of Handicrafts for their commitment to promoting and reviving Kashmir's handicrafts. "Their dedication is crucial to sustaining our heritage and ensuring the economic well-being of our artisans," he noted.
The NTTA has long been advocating for these measures and is optimistic that this meeting will spark real change. Wangnoo called on all stakeholders to support and cooperate in promoting authentic Kashmir crafts and honoring the skilled artisans who create them. (KNS)
