Srinagar, Jan 24 (KNS): Emphasizing the significance of national unity, Deputy CM Surinder Choudhary Friday said that occasions like Republic Day and Independence Day are meant to honor the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for India's freedom and prosperity.
"We don't care about who says what. What matters is that 26th January and 15th August are days to remember the sacrifices of our martyrs who freed India and made it a safe and happy place for us," he said.
Addressing recent statements made by certain officials, he remarked that such remarks should not be associated with any political party. Speaking about his visit to a revered shrine, Choudhary stated its importance to him. "Coming here is the biggest thing for me. I bow my head and express my gratitude for the blessings we have received," he said.
He also expressed his appreciation for his leader, Dr. Farooq Abdullah, and reiterated the importance of offering tributes to the national flag.
He concluded by stressing the need to stay united and cherish the sacrifices of those who fought for the nation's freedom. (KNS)
