Srinagar, Mar 01 (KNS): Meteorological Centre Srinagar Friday predicted widespread moderate rains and snow over most places of Jammu & Kashmir till March 3. It added that peak activity of weather transition likely take place on March 1st night to 2nd night.
An official of MeT said that few places my experience heavy to very heavy snow particularly over higher reaches of north Kashmir, central and south Kashmir and Pir Panchal range of Jammu division during 1st March (night) to 2nd March (late night).
He said plains of Kashmir division may receive moderate rains, and snow while plains of Jammu region may receive moderate rains with possibility of heavy rains over Ramban, Udhampur and Reasi districts during 1st March to 2nd March (late night).
He added that there is no significant weather activity thereafter till March 10 with possibility of light rains and snow at scattered places during night of 6 March to 7 March F/N.
He however cautioned travelers and tourists and advised them to plan their travel accordingly and follow advisories of administration and Traffic Department.
“In view of heavy to very heavy snowfall over few middle and higher reaches the travelers and tourists are advised to plan accordingly and follow administration & Traffic police advisory strictly,” the official said.
General public over hilly areas are advised not to venture in avalanche prone areas and sloppy areas.
“There are chances of landslides/mudslides and shooting stones at few places,” he added and advised farmers to suspend farm operations till 3rd March. (KNS)
