Srinagar, Mar 11 (KNS): The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Government of India, Tuesday imposed a five-year ban on Jammu and Kashmir Ittihadul Muslimeen (JKIM) and the Awami Action Committee (AAC) led by Mirwaiz Kashmir Umar Farooq. In two separate notifications, the MHA accused both organizations of engaging in "unlawful activities," which pose a threat to India’s integrity, sovereignty, and security.
The MHA's notification concerning JKIM stated that the organization had been involved in supporting terrorist activities, spreading anti-India propaganda, and mobilizing funds for separatist movements in Jammu and Kashmir.
It further noted that JKIM members showed disregard for India’s constitutional authority and engaged in destabilizing actions, inciting unrest, and promoting the use of arms for separatist causes.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
In a separate notification, the MHA also banned the AAC, accusing it of mobilizing funds for unlawful activities, including supporting secessionist, separatist, and terrorist actions in the region.
Founded in 1962 by Mohammad Abbas Ansari and his followers, the Jammu & Kashmir Ittihadul Muslimeen was originally established to foster Shi’a–Sunni unity in Kashmir.(KNS)
