High-Powered Committee to Discuss Ladakh Demands

 New Delhi, Oct 22(KNS): The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has announced that the next meeting of the High-Powered Committee (HPC) for Ladakh will take place on December 3 in New Delhi.

The meeting will continue discussions based on the Committee’s Terms of References (ToRs), addressing key issues concerning the Union Territory.

The HPC, originally formed on January 2, 2023, under the chairmanship of Nityanand Rai, Minister of State for Home Affairs, was reconstituted on November 30, 2023, to give more focused attention to the concerns of Ladakh.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

The upcoming meeting is expected to delve deeper into various demands, including statehood for Ladakh, its inclusion under the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution, an expedited recruitment process through a public service commission, and the creation of separate Lok Sabha seats for Leh and Kargil districts.

These demands have been at the forefront of the agitation led by the Leh Apex Body (LAB) and the Kargil Democratic Alliance (KDA) for the past five years.(KNS).
