Kupwara, July 23(KNS): A militant was killed while a non commissioned officer (NCO) of Army was injured in a gunfight that broke out between security forces and militants in Kowut area of north Kashmir's Kupwara, Army said here on Wednesday.

"Based on specific input regarding presence of terrorists in general area Kowut, Kupwara, a Joint Search Operation was launched by #IndianArmy & @JmuKmrPolice on days leading upto 23 July 24," the Army's Chinar Corps said in a post on 'X'

"On 24 July, suspicious movement was observed and challenged by vigilant troops, in response to which terrorists opened indiscriminate fire," the Army Said

"In the ensuing fire fight one terrorist has been eliminated and a NCO injured.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelOperation is in progress," it added.(KNS).
