Srinagar, Dec 10 (KNS): The Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, has responded to the issues raised by Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi regarding the progress and demands related to the Srinagar Ring Road project.

Mehdi had voiced these concerns on August 7, 2024, and resolution of pending compensation matters.

In a detailed statement, Gadkari informed that the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for Phase-III of the Srinagar Ring Road is under preparation.

He noted that alignment options have been thoroughly discussed with the Union Territory administration, and the project is expected to be included under the National Highways (NH-O) scheme, depending on the DPR's final outcome.

Addressing specific concerns about the Patwa Road Budgam access point at Ch.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel22.321, Gadkari explained that an underpass without a slip road has been provisioned in the Comprehensive Agreement (CA). However, feasibility studies are being conducted to explore the construction of an access point connecting the crossroad to the Ring Road at the same location, taking into account the right-of-way and utility shifting requirements.

The Minister also provided updates on the construction progress of underpasses and overpasses at key locations highlighted by Mehdi. At Ch. 24.880 and Ch. 26.330 in Waterwani, Budgam, work has been completed up to the substructure stage. Similarly, the underpass at Ch. 13.650 in Lalgam, Panzan, is also at the substructure completion stage, while a box culvert and footpath are currently under construction at Ch. 13.910 in the same area.

On the issue of compensation disparities, Gadkari assured that the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is actively coordinating with the Competent Authority for Land Acquisition (CALA) and District Collectors to ensure timely disbursement of pending compensation amounts..—(KNS)
