Pattan, 23 July (KNS): Just a few days after a violent protest, the residents of Chenibal Mirgund have once again blocked the national highway at Mirgund, protesting against the Public Health Engineering (PHE) department.
As per Kashmir News Service (KNS)Earlier this week, residents protested against the PHE over a water shortage, leading to clashes with the police where stones were thrown. The situation was quickly brought under control with the intervention of various officials.
Offical sources told KNS that, Despite assurances from the Chief Engineer of PHE Kashmir, the District Magistrate of Baramulla, and other officials that their demands would be met soon, the residents blocked the highway again today at Mirgund.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
The officials had promised that a major project under the JJM (Jal Jeevan Mission) scheme worth 60 crores was underway at Dewar Pherispora Pattan, and that tanker services would be provided until its completion. They said
However, at that time the residents agreed and were satisfied with the administration but, unfortunately residents have once again taken to the streets, causing disruptions.
Meanwhile Police have rushed to the scene to manage the traffic and address the situation.(KNS)
