Srinagar, Sep 8 (KNS): The Muslim Personal Law Board (MPLB) Jammu & Kashmir on Tuesday appointed Ishfaq Gowhar Zargar as Consultant for Strategic, Social & Community Affairs, in a move aimed at strengthening the board's organisational structure and outreach.
The appointment, approved by Chairman Nasir Ul Islam Farooqi, Vice Chairman Syed Mohammad Aslam Andrabi, General Secretary Prof M Yaseen Kirmani and other office-bearers, comes as part of the board's ongoing efforts to streamline its functioning.
Zargar, a resident of Parreypora in Srinagar, will work in consultation with the board's leadership and contribute towards strengthening outreach initiatives and engagement with various sections of society, an official communiqué said.

"The appointment has been made in recognition of his commitment towards social engagement, community affairs and organisational development," the statement issued by Er. Danish Reshi, Advisor to the Grand Mufti J&K and General Secretary (Organisation) of the board, said.
The consultant is expected to discharge his responsibilities with dedication, integrity and discretion, in accordance with the objectives and constitution of the Muslim Personal Law Board J&K, it added.
The appointment comes into force with immediate effect, the statement said. (KNS)
