Srinagar, July 25(KNS): Awami National Conference Senior Vice President Muzzafar Shah expressed profound disappointment over the recent budget allocation for Jammu and Kashmir, citing several critical shortcomings.
In a statement to the media, Shah highlighted the lack of special consideration for J&K, stating, "It's disheartening to see our unique circumstances overlooked once again. J&K requires focused support, particularly given the heightened challenges since August 5, 2019."
He critiqued the allocation of ?42,277 crore for J&K as grossly inadequate to address the region's extensive challenges. "This amount is merely a drop in the ocean considering the scale of issues confronting the people of J&K," Shah remarked.
He emphasized that the budget fails to tackle pressing issues in J&K, including unemployment, a struggling tourism sector, trade difficulties, educational deficits, and persistent electricity shortages.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel"These critical concerns have been barely touched and largely neglected," he asserted.
Shah also lambasted the budget for its lack of vision regarding J&K's development, pointing out the absence of a clear roadmap for revitalizing vital sectors such as agriculture, tourism, and trade.
"Without targeted measures, how can we expect to achieve meaningful progress?" he questioned. He concluded by stating that J&K requires a budget that comprehends and addresses the region's unique needs, rather than a generic approach that fails to meet the needs of the people.(KNS).
