Srinagar, September 12 (KNS): Stating that the National Conference and Congress alliance is untrustworthy and superficial, People's Democratic Party President Mehbooba Mufti on Thursday said that both parties are competing against each other despite claims of unity.
Speaking to Kashmir News Service (KNS), Mehbooba said that her ongoing campaign in South Kashmir, covering areas like Pulwama, Shopian, and Anantnag, has been met with a strong response. "The love and respect i am receiving from the people of these regions, alongside my late father Mufti Mohammad Sayeed’s legacy, energizes me to continue", she added.
She also said that people still remember 2002 when the People's Democratic Party (PDP) came to power and transformed Jammu and Kashmir, leading to major development initiatives such as the opening of the Muzaffarabad road and the establishment of educational institutions.
She further said that PDP’s agenda remains unmatched as it emphasized dialogue and ending oppression.

Mehbooba said that attempts by rival parties to break up PDP and divide votes in its strongholds like South Kashmir will not succeed, as the people understand the importance of supporting PDP to bring about meaningful change.
On being asked about friendly contest of NC-Congress alliance on some seats, Mehbooba said that the so-called "friendly contests" is mere political posturing.
She said that PDP’s focus is on addressing real issues faced by Jammu and Kashmir, such as land rights, youth employment, and economic development, and the party will only align with those who accept its agenda for resolving these problems.
She also said that her daughter Iltija has been well-received by the people of Bijbehera, and she is confident that Iltija will represent the voice of the people effectively.(KNS)
