Addresses mega election rallies in Poonch, Nowshera, Sunderbani-Kalakot; Budgam, Ganderbal

Srinagar, 22 Sept (KNS): The Vice President of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference, Omar Abdullah, emphasized the urgent need to denounce forces that propagate hatred and discord.

“These divisive powers seek to undermine our unity, dividing us along religious, regional, and linguistic lines. It is crucial to reject those who aim to sow seeds of division and disrupt our internal harmony. Let us stand united against those who seek to destroy our brotherhood,” he said while addressing a series of public gatherings in Poonch, Nowshera, Kalakot; Ompora, Narkara, Zoorigund in Budgam and in Ganderbal.

The programs were organized by party candidates Ajaz Jan, Chaudhry Surinder Singh and Yashvardhan Singh in Poonch and MP Srinagar Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi in Budgam. Party Member of Parliament Mian Altaf Ahmed also addressed the gathering in Poonch.

Omar Abdullah said that there is no shortage of problems and difficulties, problems are countless. "Youth are worried about unemployment, people are facing problems of inflation and ration, there is the issue of daily wagers. People are suffering due to shortage of electricity supply and increase in prices. There are problems with drinking water. The National Conference has decided that if it comes to the government, we will make every possible effort to provide relief to the people at all levels," he said.

In his address, Omar highlighted the plethora of issues plaguing the people in Ganderbal including the ban on sand mining in Nala Sindh, increased power tariffs, water scarcity, lack of playgrounds, road expansions, ration cuts, unemployment, unjust youth arrests, and pension reductions for the elderly.

“Ganderbal has suffered a decade of administrative neglect and inaction.Households in Ganderbal continue to lack basic facilities and utility services. The National Conference, known for its dedication to social welfare, is determined to provide relief to the people of Ganderbal,” he said.

He further added, "Countless young boys from Kashmir are currently suffering in prisons throughout the country,many of whom have been unjustly detained under the draconian Public Safety Act. I, too, found myself a victim of this oppressive law. The time has come for this unjust law to be abolished. Our manifesto seeks to catalyze widespread action on youth development on five priority areas viz. education; employment & entrepreneurship; youth leadership & development; health, fitness & sports; and social justice. Ganderbal will also get its due.”(KNS)
