Srinagar, 24 Apr (KNS): The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference on Wednesday expressed grave concern over the dwindling power scenario in Srinagar, saying the power outages have taken a turn for the worse.
In a joint statement released from the party headquarters Nawa-e-Subha, Srinagar eight In Charge Constituencies of district Srinagar Ali Muhammad Sagar, Mubarak Gul, Shameema Firdous, Irfan Shah, Tanvir Sadiq, Salman Ali Sagar, Mushtaq Guroo, and Ahsan Pardesi said the deteriorating power availability has left the residents of Srinagar facing a harsh reality of extended load shedding, disrupting daily life and adding to the woes of the already beleaguered populace.
They said the disruptions were in spite of installations of smart meters.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel“The investment in these meters has not translated into an improved electricity distribution system, causing immense frustration among citizens who have borne significant financial burden without reaping the intended advantages” they added.
“The situation runs contrary to the claims made by the incumbent administration about the availability of 24×7 power supply in metered areas. The Government takes crores of rupees in terms of tariff from the consumers but when it comes to providing round-the-clock power supply, it is abdicating responsibilities leaving the consumers high and dry,” they said.
They impressed upon the administration to take effective and prompt measures to address the situation.(KNS)
