Bandipora, 11 June (KNS): The Residents of Nowgam Sonawari area in North Kashmir's Bandipora district on Tuesday held a protest against the Jal Shakti department over water scarcity in the area.
They alleged that the department failed to provide potable drinking water for the past 15 days.
Dozen's of protesters, including the men and women gathered near Junction Mahala Nowgam and blocked the Singapore-Sumbal road for several hours, disrupting traffic movement.
They expressed their dissatisfaction with the department's lack of action and said that the water supplied by tankers is insufficient and not potable, leading to health problems.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
While speaking to media residents claimed they are forced to rely on nearby water streams, and that the Jal Shakti department has not taken any steps to address the issue despite their repeated requests.
They also alleged that the water supplied by tankers is insufficient and not fit for consumption, leading to health problems.
Now the local residents appealed to the higher authorities and DC Bandipora to intervene in this regard and resolve their genuine greviences as soon as possible so that they didn't get suffer anymore.(KNS)
