Srinagar, July 13 (KNS): Jammu and Kashmir’s Chief Minister criticized the government’s move to restrict public access to the Martyrs’ Graveyard on July 13, calling it a violation of democratic rights.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the CM said the 13th July massacre was like Kashmir’s own Jallianwala Bagh, where brave people laid down their lives fighting against British rule. “These martyrs gave their lives to raise the voice of Kashmiris and empower them. Sadly, they are now being projected as villains just because they were Muslims,” the CM said.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
He added that even though people are being stopped from visiting the graveyard today, the sacrifices of these heroes will never be forgotten.
The CM further condemned the heavy security deployment across Srinagar, including police and central forces, and the locking of residential homes from the outside. Major bridges have also been blocked, preventing people from reaching the Martyrs’ Graveyard.
Calling the move completely undemocratic, the CM said, “I will never understand what the Law & Order government is so afraid of.”(KNS)
