Srinagar, Oct 11(KNS): Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah met with Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha Friday late evening and staked the claim for Government formation

During the meeting at Raj Bhavan Srinagar, Abdullah submitted letters of support from the Congress, CPM, AAP, and independent representatives. He also requested the LG to schedule a date for the swearing-in ceremony.

Abdullah while speaking to reporters acknowledged that the process may take time due to the ongoing Centre rule in the Union Territory.

He said that the LG sinha would need to forward the relevant documents to Rashtrapati Bhawan and then to the Home Ministry, which is expected to take 2-3 days.

Abdullah expressed hope for a swearing-in ceremony before Tuesday, potentially on Wednesday.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelHe also stated that Jammu would not be overlooked in the new government.

Notably, this will be the first elected government in Jammu and Kashmir since 2018, when governor’s rule was imposed following the BJP's withdrawal of support from then chief minister Mehbooba Mufti.

It will also mark the first elected government after the abrogation of Article 370 and the delimitation of seats in the region.

The National Conference (NC) and the Indian National Congress (INC) alliance secured 48 seats in the assembly elections.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won 29 seats, with 28 Hindu and one Sikh member elected, while none of their Muslim candidates including two former ministers were successful.(KNS).
