Seems contradictory to seek votes from people while not being a candidate myself: Omar Abdullah

Srinagar, August 27 (KNS): National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah, who previously stated that he wouldn't participate in assembly elections as long as Jammu and Kashmir remains a Union Territory, will now contest from Ganderbal constituency.

The decision follows the release of the National Conference's second list of 32 candidates for the upcoming assembly elections.

Omar Abdullah had said that he wouldn’t join the assembly under the current circumstances, echoing these sentiments as recently as April this year.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

He had said that his position had remained unchanged since 2020. However, speaking to reporters after the formalization of the seat-sharing pact between National Conference and Congress on Monday evening, Omar hinted at a change in stance, stating that his earlier decision to stay away from the assembly may have been a mistake.

Omar said that seeking votes from the people while not being a candidate himself seemed contradictory.(KNS)
