Srinagar, Nov 26 (KNS): Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and PDP President, Mehbooba Mufti, on Monday expressed grave concern over the escalating threats faced by the country's largest minority, particularly in light of the ongoing attacks on their dignity, lives, livelihoods, and places of worship.

Mufti stated that these attacks are a stark violation of the Constitution’s guarantees of equal rights and dignity for all citizens, irrespective of their background.

"The recent violence in Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh, where four innocent lives were tragically lost, serves as a painful reminder of the reality minorities are facing across the country," Mufti said, highlighting the alarming pattern of violence against the minority community.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

She pointed out the disturbing trend of searching for temples beneath mosques, which continues despite a clear Supreme Court ruling maintaining the status quo of religious places as they existed in 1947.

Mufti further highlighted the erosion of constitutional values and the weakening of the rule of law, warning that if this trend continues, the nation’s unique identity could be at risk. "Unless those of us who believe in the idea of India rise to defend our constitutional values, our country risks becoming indistinguishable from its neighbors," she asserted. (KNS)
