Srinagar, Feb 28 (KNS): The Crime Branch of J&K Police has received 52 complaints through SMS and email, 64 via Citizen Service Centers, and 10 from the Web Portal/Internet (Eforms), with more than 70 of these converted into FIRs, a Crime Branch official said.
Under the newly implemented Bhartiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), any electronic complaint received by the police must be recorded, but the complainant is required to sign it within three days, as per Section 173 of BNSS.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelAdditionally, over 100 Zero FIRs have been registered across various police stations in the UT, with 83 transferred to different police stations outside J&K.
To prevent misuse of e-FIR provisions, checks and balances have been introduced at multiple levels, considering the increasing public awareness of cybercrime trends, the official added.(KNS)
