PDL, TDL Employees Stage Protest in Freezing Temperatures, Demand Justice

Shopian Dec 21(KNS): Amid freezing temperatures of minus 10 degrees Celsius, hundreds of temporary daily labourers (PDL/TDL) of the Power Development Department (PDD) staged a protest in Shopian district, pressing for their long-pending demands.

The protesters raised slogans, highlighting their contributions and the risks they face daily to ensure uninterrupted power supply across Jammu and Kashmir. They emphasized that PDL and TDL workers are the backbone of the power system, often climbing poles during heavy snowfall and extreme cold, risking their lives to repair wires.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

"Despite our relentless service, many of us have lost colleagues due to electrocution while on duty. Yet, our files for permanent employment have been lying idle in the secretariat for years, with no progress due to unknown reasons," one of the protesters said.

The workers demanded immediate action to regularize their services and address their grievances.(KNS)
