Srinagar, June 15 (KNS): Minister Satish Sharma today said that the aim of the government’s efforts is to take Jammu and Kashmir forward with peace, brotherhood, and prosperity. Speaking during a local event, he said people of the region have gone through a lot in recent weeks, and now is the time to stand together.
According to KNS, Sharma said every individual and institution has a role in building a peaceful and united society. “We all need to come together and give a clear message—we’re for peace and harmony,” he said. “Those who try to create unrest are the ones backing terrorism, and they should be dealt with firmly.”
He recalled how the Omar Abdullah-led government has always worked with the spirit of unity and development, saying that from day one, the focus was on taking people along. Speaking about the response to a recent cyclothon, Sharma said the enthusiasm among youth was so strong that they had to stop registration due to overwhelming numbers.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Talking about challenges faced by the youth, Sharma pointed to the growing problem of drug addiction and overuse of mobile phones. “We hope young people focus on fitness and stay away from drugs—that’s one of the biggest threats today,” he said.
He also referred to the recent tensions in the region and how the people of Jammu and Kashmir stood united in those moments. “No matter what part of the region—from Gulmarg to Pahalgam to Vaishnodevi—people stood as one,” he said, adding that such unity gives strength to the idea of India as one family.
On Mehraj Malik's recent political stand, Sharma said, “Mehraj has always backed secular and development-minded politics. I believe he’ll continue to support the government that is trying to move things forward.”
He ended his remarks on a hopeful note, saying more good news is likely in the coming days and that the truth will always find its way forward. (KNS)
