PM Modi’s Visit for USBRL Project Inauguration Postponed

Srinagar, Apr 15 (KNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s scheduled visit to Jammu and Kashmir on April 19 for the inauguration of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) project has been postponed, officials from the Railway Department confirmed on Monday.

The ambitious USBRL project, which aims to provide all-weather rail connectivity between Jammu and Kashmir and the rest of the country, was expected to witness its official launch by the Prime Minister later this week. However, due to unforeseen reasons, the visit has been deferred.

A senior railway official said fresh dates for the Prime Minister’s visit will be announced in due course. “The scheduled programme of the Prime Minister for April 19 has been postponed. Revised dates will be communicated once finalized,” the official stated.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

A senior BJP leader also confirmed the development to KNS, saying that the Prime Minister’s visit has been put on hold and the new schedule will be shared once it is finalized.

The USBRL project is considered a game-changer for Jammu and Kashmir, significantly reducing travel time and improving connectivity across the region. The Katra-Banihal section, which includes some of the most challenging engineering works like the Chenab Bridge — the world’s highest railway arch bridge — is seen as a major milestone for the Indian Railways.

Authorities are now preparing for the next possible date for the grand inauguration. (KNS)
