Srinagar March 6 (KNS): Hoping that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would announce restoration of Statehood and holding of Assembly Poll alongside Parliament Polls during his Srinagar Visits, Former law minister Syed Basharat Bukhari Wednesday said that , normalcy doesn't return overnight instead requires huge and consistent efforts to attain and sustain the same.
According to a statemnet issued to KNS, Bukhari said that the Prime Minister's Visit to the valley was a welcome move but hoped that the PM announce restoration of Statehood and assembly polls.
" Look, Visiting here and addressing gatherings only won't yield anything. If the BJP government is really sincere in engaging people of J&K, then the PM must announce two main confidence building measures including restoration of Statehood and holding of Assembly polls alongside Parliament elections." Bukhari said in the debate. He also accused BJP of taking " undue" credit of " everything that is going good" in J&K post 370 abrogation.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
" Whatever good is happening, they are quick to take credit. Film shooting has not come here during their rule only. When Dr Farooq was CM during peak militancy, film crews were brought to Gulmarg for shooting. When Mufti Sahab was CM, tours and Travel agents and other film crews flew to Kashmir for shooting even during turmoil." Said the three time legislator from erstwhile Sangrama Constituency . He added, that "nothing has come out of the blue", instead many in the past have laid foundations and put immense efforts to achieve peace which BJP now wants to take full credit of . He said, even the political workers, activists, leaders and common people of Kashmir who have lost their lives in pursuit of peace have had a huge contribution to bring normalcy which cannot be ignored and forgotten. He added that then Prime minister Devi Gowda who brought back democracy in violance hit former state in 1996 must also be appreciated for his courageous decision to engage people of J&K.(KNS)
