Srinagar January 18 (KNS): Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police have arrested 07 drug peddlers in Srinagar, Budgam & Shopian and recovered contraband/ psychotropic substances from their possession.
In Srinagar, a police team of Police Station Khanyar during routine patrolling in Bishambarnagar area, intercepted two suspicious persons roaming in the area. During search, substantial quantity of contraband substance was recovered from their possession. They have been identified as Imran Ahmad Ganie son of Gh. Mohammed Ganie resident of Naibasti Anantnag and Abid Hamid Nanda son of Ab. Hamid Nanda resident of Dagpora Khanbal, Anantnag.
Moreover, a police team of Police Station Nishat during naka checking at Sheikh Mohalla Brein arrested one drug peddler namely Umar Farooq Shiekh son of Farooq Ahmad Shiekh resident of Sheikh Mohalla Brein Nishat. 50 grams of contraband charas like substance was recovered from his possession
In Budgam, a police team of Police Station Beerwah at a checkpoint established at village Lolipora near Indian Gas Agency, intercepted 03 suspicious persons. They have been identified as Bilal Ahmad Bhat son of Ghulam Hassan Bhat, Rouf Ahmad Bhat son of Mohammad Sultan Bhat both residents of Utligam Beerwah & Mukhtar Ahmad Najar son of Abdul Rashid Najar resident of Chewdara.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelDuring their personal search, 05 sticks of charas like substance wrapped in corn husk weighing 49 grams, 368 grams of charas like substances in powder form & 14 strips of banned drug (112 tablets), ?2520 cash and 02 mobile phones were recovered.
In Shopian, Police along with CRPF (14Bn) during a search operation at village Daramdoora Keegam recovered two Nylon bags containing contraband substance weighing 16.700Kgs charas from a residential house of Imtiyaz Ahmad Hurra son of Bashir Ahmad Hurra resident of Daramdoora Keegam. Further investigation is underway.
All the drug peddlers have been arrested & cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and investigations have been initiated.
